Shoe Wars: Isaac vs Mommy

Let me begin by telling you how important shoes have become to Isaac...and me...lately. I have always liked picking everything out for my little men. Well, my little man Isaac has decided he has an opinion of his own these days concerning shoes. I bought some cute brown shoes to WEAR WITH JEANS this fall. He has decided he loves them so much and wants to wear them all the time. We have had quite the little power struggles over these brown shoes. He has found a little loop hole by beating me at my own game. I tried to tell him he can't wear them because they don't match, etc. So, he has been finding every shirt he owns with some brown in it and asking with his best manners he can muster up. So....I thought I would beat him this time and side track him with some new cool tennis shoes. Well, now he cares and NEEDS light-up shoes...which I hate. We had one pair and I was so happy when we had to throw them away and couldn't "find" anymore. The other night he worked hard to get Thomas light up shoes... "like Brent"... I do not love Brent right now. :) I just couldn't do it, despite the good manners and even minding through real tears over putting them back. (I almost gave...but they were seriously ugly.) Well, Daddy went shoe shopping tonight with instructions from Isaac to find light up shoes with blue in them. Daddy found a pair that he knew I would not chalk up as my favorites...but have a fighting chance against the brown shoes meant for jeans....
What do you think???????????

Well...at least their Thomas!!! Does he always sleep in his shoes. If it makes you feel any better...Taylor told grandy that she could not leave the house with out finding shoes that match her purple outfit....how old are our kids????-Les

Don't you just love it when they actually start having their own opinion on what to wear?!?!?! I gave up on trying to dress Matthew a long time ago...could you tell when he would come to class wearing something like a blue and white shirt with orange and tan shorts (or something along those lines). I'm quite sure Matthew spent more of his kindergarten year NOT matching than wearing clothes that matched! So just wait. The shoes are the first step towards independent dressing. Next will be the "but mommy I want to wear THIS shirt with those (non-matching) shorts!" Have fun with that! :)
