Goodbye Texas...Hello New Mexico!

We had a great trip out to Rio Rancho, New Mexico to check out where Christy and her family are now living. It is soooo beautiful there. My pictures do not do it justice.I realize now I never really took a picture of the mountain range they get to look at everytime they go anywhere!
We had a perfect little vacation of playing, eating, and laying around.
Did I mention eating?

Here is Greg using the spy camera as a book light.
Check out these Engine Turtles as Isaac would say. The kids had sooo much fun playing together. They got along so well.
Our first day we played and played and played.

That night we went to River of Lights at the Botanical Gardens in Albuquerque. There were lights everywhere. It was very beautiful....and very cold!

On New Year's Eve we headed out to Sandia Peak only we could not really go to the peak because of the high winds. I was scared to go up in the tram but I was also disappointed not to see the top. We will definitely be back to check this out when it is less cold. The temp at the base was low 30's and the top was NINE! I think our plan of have the kids wear the pj bottoms under their pants would not have been enough.
These are a few pictures from the car on the way out. I was trying to show how you can see so far away. This area is called the high dessert. It very windy because of the lack of trees, but it sure makes for an amazing view. These pictures just do not do justice to their views. I am jealous they get to see this everyday. I also found it interesting that all the houses are all tan and brown. It is a little bland in the neighborhood, but as you drive away you can appreciate more of why they build their homes to blend into the land. It really makes a big difference. You can tell just a little bit in the first picture.

The tram we were going to take to the top...It is like a gondola except you are so high off the ground.
My boys were so excited to go on a mountain and make snowballs we had to play for awhile on the bottom. You can see just the start of the cables the tram goes on. Look up Sandia Peak to see what it looks like. It will make you want to go see the May's to check it out yourself!
Thank goodness there was a little snow for some little snowball throwing.

Christy trying to keep warm....

John entertaining the kids...and himself...with his impression of an elephant .
I told you John I would post this! :) Listen for Spencer's cheer at the end.
He was a hit!

Christy made us a HUGE snack night dinner to party in the new year!
...as you can see we did party hard.
Christy and John were not ready for the wild ways of Angie and Greg.
Okay...well some of us really did go nuts.
..proof I stayed awake the whole time.
Here are the kids for a last night movie night. All but Spence slept here all night. He ended up sleeping in his "room" or as some people call it- the closet. He loved the walk in closet in the guest room. He went in there for a nap one afternoon and from then on that was "his room".

As you can tell (if you are still looking that is....I did not leave anything out this time) we had a really great time. I cannot wait to go back this summer to do some more playing! It was COLD there. I will never make fun of Christy again. :)
Thanks for everything guys, we had a blast and miss you already!

I love the title! Ian was cracking up at John's crazy face. I love our little Engine Turtles, not exactly fierce but super cute. You all thought I was wimpy out here in the "frozen tundra" (as my father in law calls it) but when those winds kick up, it is FREEZING! Do we really have to wait until Summer to play some more??? It seems so far away!!
